Receipts and kitchen tickets

Updated · 2 min read

On this page

Print order tickets and receipts for cafes, bakeries and retail counters. Start with a receipt sample, then send it to the Receipt printer on your Print Station.

Pick a sample and paper size#

  1. Open Templates → Browse Samples and choose the Receipt filter.
  2. Choose Kitchen ticket or Pickup slip under Packing Slip, or Sales receipt under Invoice. Click Download to add it to your templates.
  3. Open the installed template. It starts at Receipt (80 mm roll). If you use a 58 mm roll, change Paper size to Receipt (58 mm roll) in the editor. Check the preview and choose Save.

58 mm needs a printer whose driver offers 58 mm paper. Use Desktop Utility 1.12.0 or newer for 58 mm printing.

Assign your printer#

On the computer that prints, open the Desktop Utility. In Printers, select your printer under Receipt printer. Load the roll that matches your template and select that width in the printer driver. Keep the utility running.

This screen is in the Desktop Utility on your computer. Assign the label printer, document printer, and receipt printer slots you use. Each row has a Fit to page switch.Scroll across the illustration to see the full view.

If you have not connected a Print Station yet, follow the Setup Guide.

  1. On Templates, choose Set Default for your receipt sample in its document type. Review any Print Rules that could select a different template or Print Station.
  2. Open Print Rules → Print Chain. Add the sample's document type, choose Always print, and choose Save chain. See Print Chain for the full setup.
  3. Open Settings → Automatic printing and turn it on. Under When to print, choose When the order is placed (before payment) for tickets. This starts printing when the order is created.
  4. Leave Skip POS orders off to include point-of-sale orders.

Tickets usually print within a few seconds. A sleeping computer delays printing until it wakes. Keep the computer awake during printing hours.

Replace a lost ticket#

Open Print History, find the completed document job, and choose Print again. It sends one copy to the same Print Station and is available for 3 days. It does not count toward your monthly orders.

You can also use Reprint in the Desktop Utility's Recent Jobs. For more details, see Print History.
