Uninstall + Reinstall

Updated · 4 min read

On this page

Uninstalling stops Autoprinter's access to your store and paired devices. Reinstalling soon afterward can preserve your setup, but you must pair your devices again.

Uninstall Autoprinter#

In Shopify admin, open Settings → Apps, find Autoprinter, and choose Uninstall. Follow Shopify's confirmation steps. See Shopify's uninstall guide.

When Autoprinter receives the uninstall notification, it deletes your Shopify authentication sessions and revokes your paired devices. The Chrome Extension and Desktop Utility then lose access on their next request.

Uninstalling the Shopify app does not remove the Chrome Extension or Desktop Utility from your computer. Remove those separately if you no longer want them installed. It also does not erase documents you already printed or saved locally.

What happens to my setup and data?#

Your templates, Print Rules, Label Sources, Print Stations, and settings are retained initially so a prompt reinstall can recover them. Shopify sends its shop-data deletion request about 48 hours after uninstall; Autoprinter deletes the remaining shop records when it receives and processes that request. This is not a guarantee that deletion finishes at an exact hour. Shopify explains the deletion notification here.

Once those records have been deleted, reinstalling starts a fresh setup. Do not use uninstalling as a way to pause printing while guaranteeing long-term preservation of your settings. To stop automatic documents while keeping the app, turn off Settings → Automatic Printing instead. The Chrome Extension's Auto-print labels switch separately controls label capture.

Reinstall Autoprinter#

  1. Reinstall from the Autoprinter Shopify App Store listing and open the app in Shopify admin.
  2. Check Templates, Print Rules, and Printer Setup. If the retained setup is still present, you can continue using it. If deletion has already occurred, follow the Setup Guide.
  3. Review pending work in Print History before reconnecting a station; retained pending jobs may become printable again when the station reconnects.
  4. Generate fresh pairing codes in Printer Setup and re-pair the Desktop Utility and Chrome Extension. Their old device tokens were revoked on uninstall.
  5. Check Plan & Billing, your printer assignments, Print Chain, and Automatic Printing settings before resuming.
  6. Print one test document to confirm the setup.

Reinstall promptly after an accidental uninstall. The 48-hour period is the expected recovery window, not a backup service or a guarantee of restoration after deletion.

How it works
Reconnect after reinstalling
Uninstalling revokes old device access. Check any retained setup and queued work, then pair each companion again with a fresh code. Deleted setup cannot be restored by re-pairing.

Does uninstalling cancel billing?#

Shopify cancels future recurring app charges when you uninstall. A charge for the current billing cycle may still appear; uninstalling does not guarantee an automatic refund. Shopify's uninstall guide describes this billing behavior.

If you want to keep Autoprinter on Free, use Plan & Billing → Cancel paid plan instead. That in-app action requests a prorated Shopify credit. See the Billing FAQ and Refund Policy.

Request data deletion#

Email support@autoprinter.app from the email address associated with your Shopify account. Include your shop domain and state that you want your Autoprinter data deleted. We verify the request before processing it and confirm the outcome.

What about customer information in printed documents?#

Autoprinter fetches order data from Shopify to render documents. Browser previews normally expire after one hour; previews backing queued Print Chains last up to 72 hours. In addition, rendered documents and shipping-label references can also be retained with print jobs. Completed jobs are normally removed after 30 days and failed jobs after 90 days, measured from creation; pending and claimed jobs remain until removed or the shop is deleted.

Deletion from the live service does not delete your physical printouts or downloaded files. Backup copies follow their own retention and deletion process. See the Privacy Policy and Data Retention Policy for the full terms.
